Did you know that our Nicaraguan coffee comes from the region Matagalpa?
Matagalpa is the second largest region of the country in population size, and the fifth in area. It covers an area of 6,804 km2 and has a population of around 600,000.
The region’s capital city of Matagalpa gives it its name and it consists of many estates and cooperatives. They grow some of the country’s best coffees here, due to the cool, wet microclimate and high elevation. This region also has rich volcanic soil and a tropical forest feel creating perfect conditions for coffee plants to grow and develop those sweet chocolate tones with citrus aroma.
